Ale and Mike’s love story began in June 2022, when the two matched on a mobile dating app.  In spite of their mutual skepticism of and impatience with the mobile dating landscape, the two made plans to meet at Maiz 64, home to the District’s finest Mexican cuisine.

The first date was magical, and it was clear that this couple was made for each other.  Although he would never admit it (and certainly would never write it under the guise of an anonymous narrator), Mike was devilishly handsome, extremely intelligent, and humble to boot.  Ale, for her part, was so beautiful and charming it was almost too much for Mike to handle.

After the first date, Ale and Mike spent as much time as possible together until Ale fell victim to COVID.  Then, just as she was recovering, she left for a pre-planned, extended vacation in Europe.  Mike knew that a separation of this magnitude—roughly the same amount of time as their relationship at that point—could have devastating consequences for their long-run prospects.  Given Ale’s aforementioned charm and beauty, the stakes were simply too high for Mike to not spring into action.  He sent mountains of cookies, medicines, and dinners to her during her convalescence, maintained a steady stream of communication with her during her vacation abroad, and wrangled a hard-to-get dinner reservation to celebrate her return to D.C.  This tactic of placing himself just on the border of “desperate” paid off!  When Ale returned to D.C., the two continued to build their relationship throughout the rest of that unforgettable summer.

As time went on, Ale and Mike fell deeper and deeper in love.  They cherished each other’s company in truly wonderful times, celebrated each other’s accomplishments, and discovered how much easier hard times can be with the love and support that their relationship provided.  Through lots of love, patience, and communication, Ale and Mike have helped each other become the best versions of themselves.  They are so excited and honored to celebrate their love with all of you!
